The Livingston Enterprise, November 1, 1890
The Montana Mining Journal has the following pertinent editorial upon the question of railroad transportation to Cooke City: While there are possible routes for railroads to Cooke City along Clark’s Fork and the Stillwater, the only practicable route, if human testimony may be believed, is from Cinnabar through the Yellowstone National Park. There is a sentiment in the east against permitting a railroad to enter the Park or reducing its boundaries. This is all sentiment and nothing else. If there was a railroad in the Park visitors would be greatly pleased, for the fatigue of seeing the Park by stage would be avoided, and the Park would not be hurt a particle. Especially a railroad to Cooke City would not injure it in the least. It is time that sentiment should give way to practical utility in this matter.
