Filler Up

With the establishment of Yellowstone, the construction of the Beartooth Highway and the popularity of the modern car came a boom in the tourist town. Silver Gate in particular was founded on the idea of fulfilling all of a tourists needs in the remote mountain valley. On average 157,000 people visited Yellowstone National Park each year throughout the 1920s. This figure continued to rise annually even into the present day. This amount of traffic required improvements in roadways, including those through the Park and through its outlying communites.
