The Livingston Enterprise, November 5, 1887

Courier: Matt M. Black and family returned on Thursday last from Cooke City, where for the past two months they have been residing for health and recreation. Matt informs us that from a mining standpoint the camp never looked as favorable for remunerative operations as it does to-day, and all that is needed to make it a prosperous and lucrative mining center is the extension of the Park branch railroad from Cinnabar to Cooke City, a distance of fifty miles. Not more than twenty-five persons will remain in the camp during the coming winter.
