Historic Note - Week of July 31st

The Livingston Enterprise, August 3, 1889

Cooke City wants a daily mail service, and a petition to that effect is being circulated and will be forwarded to Washington. As the camp numbers about 300 voters they are entitled to better mail service than that now enjoyed, and their petition should receive merited recognition.

[Only days earlier the following had been noted]:

Great Falls Tribune, July 31, 1889

Cooke City wants a hotel.

Envelope addressed to Jack Allen, proprietor of the Cosmopolitan Hotel, 1896. Cooke City Montana Museum Permanent Collection.
