The Livingston Enterprise, May 17, 1890
The enterprising firm of Nichols & Chittenden of Cooke City are erecting a handsome two-story business building in that camp, 25x75 feet in size. To stock this they have just ordered a large invoice of general merchandise of all kinds, and as soon as the building is completed and the good received they will have one of the most complete general merchandise stores in Park county. This move has been rendered necessary by their largely increased business during the past year and the growth of Cooke. Such enterprise is highly commendable, and this move not only shows the prosperous condition of Cooke, but the abiding faith in her future greatness held by such sound business men as compose this firm.
