Museum's Association of Montana Conference

The Museum’s Association of Montana conference 2015 was wonderful, I made some great connections and educated many more people about our museum. The sessions I attended discussed interpretation, research techniques, exhibit design and so much more. I was fortunate enough to take a walking tour of the “Magic” city of Billings, and visited many of their museums. This is always a great opportunity to see first-hand how fellow institutions tackle their exhibits and I always learn a lot. I feel confident that we are right up in the ranks of some of the best museums in the state. The session I presented, "The Mountains are Calling: Interpreting a Small Community over a Century Old", was well-attended and I was able to discuss my experiences throughout my first couple of years as your director. Everyone I talked to was impressed with our small community’s dedication to such a great task.

Also, this week my proposal for a short talk at the Montana History Conference was accepted. This conference will be held in September. I will be presenting my research findings on the name of “Shoo Fly” and its connection to the history of Cooke City.

I can't thank this community enough for giving me the opportunity to share our history!
