The River Press (Fort Benton) November 7, 1883:
Cook City, the metropolis of the Clarke’s Fork mines, will soon have a government survey, and in consequence the citizens will have a title to their town lots. The surveyor general has ordered a survey of 640 acres for a townsite which will be deeded to their respective owners by the probate judge of Gallatin county.
