The Beginning of the New World Mining District

On July 19th 2014 the Cooke City Montana Museum first opened it's doors to the public, little did we know that exactly 142 years earlier in 1872 the New World Mining District had been officially established. What a wonderful coincidence and tribute to the miners who first traveled out to this area to seek fortune.
