The Livingston Enterprise, May 7, 1887
Col. E Lamertine, supervisor of roads in the Park, will begin this season’s work by repairing the Cooke road which is in a very bad condition. This road should be repaired by abandoning it altogether and building a new road up the river bank of the Yellowstone, but there are not now sufficient funds to undertake this improvement.
